Post-doc positions in Surface Physics or Materials Science

Position Overview

The open post-doc position will be involved in mostly experimental research of novel materials suitable for interesting surface-related phenomena, namely in heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry and sensing. Current research in the Surface Physics group covers a range of multicomponent materials based on reducible oxides and metallic or bimetallic nanostructures and thin films. The applicant’s research will focus mainly on so-called model studies of such well-defined materials in vacuum, with potential extension to more complex structures and environments (such as high-pressure conditions, electrochemistry etc.)

The ideal candidate must have experience with ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) experiments, as well as with some of the methods listed below (see Group overview). He/she should hold a strong interest in materials science and/or chemical physics, proven by an adequate publication record.

Anticipated commencement: March 2026

What We Require:

  • A strong proven background in surface science, materials physics, chemical physics or a related field.
  • A PhD. degree in one of the aforementioned or related disciplines, obtained no more than 4 years ago.
  • Hands-on experience with vacuum equipment
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills in English.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
