Anotace:
Czechia has very recently joined the LOFAR ERIC (https://www.lofar.eu/) with perspective to build one of the stations at our territory till 2028. This represents a big opportunity and boost for multiple scientific communities in Czechia. Among them, the solar, heliospheric, and space-weather research, including studies of the terrestrial magnetosphere and ionosphere can truly benefit from our membership.

Proton beams generation and differential acceleration of heavy ions by ion-acoustic waves driven by finite-amplitude Alfvén waves — English

Anotace:
Ion acoustic waves (IAWs) driven by finite-amplitude Alfvén waves are responsible for the generation of proton beams moving relative to the main proton population at a speed slightly greater than the Alfvén speed. The mechanism for this differential motion is the trapping of resonant protons in the IAW wave trains. Due to their greater inertia, heavy ions are not easily trapped, but because of the conservation of the total momentum of the plasma, the heavy ions move faster than the core protons. Therefore, a lower density of heavy ions results in a higher relative velocity for the heavies, which generates an additional distinctive imprint of the trapping mechanism.
