High-harmonic Spectroscopy in Liquids — in English

Anotace:
High-harmonic spectroscopy, previously applied to gases and solids, is extended to liquids to study ultrafast electron dynamics with high temporal resolution. By using thin liquid jets and varying light polarization, the technique reveals that cut-off energy depends on the liquid’s properties and is explained through electron scattering models and DFT simulations. This method enables all-optical measurements of electron mean free paths in liquids, offering insights into radiation damage and sub-femtosecond chemical processes in biological environments.
