Anotace:
Ľadové častice vytvárajúce polárne stratosférické mraky (PSC) sú významným katalyzátorom reakcií vedúcich k tvorbe voľných radikálov v stratosfére. Tieto sa aktívne podieľajú na poškodzovaní ozónovej vrstvy. Prednáška sa zaoberá základnými procesmi nukleácie a rastu ľadových častíc vody (PSC typ II) a zmesi HNO3/H2O (PSC typ Ia), ktoré boli študované v experimente s molekulovým zväzkom klastrov.

Anotace:
This seminar will discuss the opportunities and advantages of studying for the PhD Degree in the United States at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. The talk starts with a short description of Lincoln and Nebraska in general. A general description of the University of Nebraska will follow and then a more specific description of the opportunitíes in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
The faculty members in the department and their areas of specialty are to be described. Financial aid by means of assistantships will be discussed. For those students supported by assistantships the cost of tuition and the cost of health insurance are paid for by the University. lnstructions for application for admission and for assistantships are to be discussed.
Biographical Sketch
Professor Soukup received his PhD degree from the University of Minnesota.
After a short tíme in industry and four years at the University of lowa he joined the
faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Nebraska in
1976. He retíred from his fulltime position in 2011 after 35 years as a Professor, the last
12 as an endowed chaired professor. ln 1978 he became Chairman of the Department
and held that position for 22 1/2 years. ln 1990 he began research collaboration with
scientists at the lnstitute of Physics of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, an
endeavor which is still ongoing. Professor Soukup is a Fellow of the IEEE and has won
several university and national awards.
