Abstract:
The main goal of the work will be to investigate the growth of crystals, especially sapphire, using pulsed laser deposition method. Emphasis will be placed on the incorporation of impurity ions into the lattice of the growing crystal. Attention will also be paid to computational physics procedures with the aim of contributing to the development of its methodology.
As part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Pathfinder project, the work will deal with simulations of sapphire growth during pulsed laser deposition. Sapphire doped with heavy ions represents a powerful source of laser radiation. In cooperation with foreign partners who prepare layers using this method, the incorporation of impurity ions into the crystal lattice will be studied.
Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations will be used as the primary methodology, the main task will be to simplify a complex problem to a minimal model capable of reproducing experimentally observed properties.
